Shanghai Stops Selling Most brands of New Energy Vehicles, Local Subsidy in "Dystocia"

The new energy vehicles that we could sell now are all Roewe’s, whose manufacturers bear the subsidy. All the other brands have been stopped selling, and only when the new policies are introduced can the sale be restarted," said a new energy vehicle sales company in Shanghai. Shanghai new energy vehicle market is anxiously waiting for the introduction of new policy.

As for those new policies to which people are looking forward,  Shanghai Municipal Economy and Information Commission said, the notice about encouraging people to purchase and to use new energy vehicles in 2017 continues to be effective. However, at present, Shanghai Municipal Economy and Information Commission is gathering related departments to speed up the study on adjustment program for encouraging new energy vehicles.

New round of national subsidy policy of new energy vehicles has been implemented since January 1st. Compared to last year, not only the amount of subsidy falls by 20%, it also provides that the local financial subsidy shall not exceed 50% of the national subsidy. Now the local new policy in Shanghai has not been introduced yet.

Shanghai Municipal Economy and Information Commission revealed that they are gathering related departments to speed up the study on adjustment program for encouraging new energy vehicles. But it will take some time before the introduction of new policy. Before the new policy, the new energy vehicle manufacturers can continue to apply for new energy vehicle models, and they can also sell new energy automotive products. However, they need to sign a letter of commitment to the consumers. Manufacturers and dealers are to bear the risk of uncertainty of new energy vehicle subsidy.

According to industry sources, in accordance with national policy, there are three basic aspects of new subsidy can be sure. First, the amount of subsidy will continue to retreat; second, in 2017, Shanghai will cancel the subsidy policy of the third level; third, Shanghai may give some subsidy to electric vehicles sharing travel.
