China’s tech giant, ByteDance, owning the video platform TikTok, has officially launched its cloud computing platform, Volcano Engine, with a strategic layout in the V2X field.

Recently, ByteDance’s Volcano Engine introduced its entire line of cloud-based products for the first time after it was promoted as a business unit in the ByteDance hierarchy. The product lineup consists of 78 services, covering cloud foundation, video and content release, data middle-ground, development middle-ground, and AI.

The general manager of Volcano Engine, Tan Dai, told local media outlets that the team is optimistic about its products’ development in entertainment, gaming, automobile, finance, and retail sectors, especially the V2X field, which will be the company’s main business focus.

According to the company, building on ByteDance’s large-scale practice and technology innovations, Volcano Engine is able to offer end-to-end performance optimization from basic hardware to business scenarios. The company’s customizable data center has an average PUE of 1.16, far lower than the 1.59 average among most data centers globally.

Volcano Engine’s cloud infrastructure capabilities range from computing, storage, network, and more. ByteDance’s self-developed server, DPU, AI chips will also provide external services through Volcano Engine’s products. In addition, Volcano Engine has introduced its “Wanyou Project”, which sets a target for the company to help achieve digitalization among 100,000 clients with 1,000 partners in 3 years.

Notably, Volcano Engine has already served many companies in different fields, including Geely’s ECARX, Changan Auto, SAIC MAXUS, NIO, and QCraft, in the automotive industry.
